Let’s give a big warm welcome to Tambra Boyd of Sacred Wings Reiki, a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki Master, who recently joined the Marlborough Wellness Center! This energy creates a sense of well being within the person . Karuna is the highest level of Reiki. Acupuncture and BNI

April 14, 2016 by MWC Staff

IMG_5718
When I was in acupuncture graduate school, my Practice Management professor taught us the power of word-of-mouth networking. Print advertising really doesn’t work for acupuncturists. I mean, let’s think about it. Would you go to an acupuncturist you saw an ad for in the paper or an acupuncturist who was recommended to you by a friend or colleague? Exactly. My professor introduced us to the Chamber of Commerce and BNI, Business Network International. When I graduated, I looked into becoming members of both organizations.
The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce has been an amazing influence on my business over the past 10 years but BNI has been pivotal in building my business and learning how to network correctly, efficiently, and professionally. With that said, the Marlborough BNI chapter is having their annual Visitor’s Day on April 28th at the FISH Restaurant (corner of Granger and Bolton streets), from 7-8:30am. The format will be open and everyone will get a chance to speak but it won’t be a normal meeting. I invite anyone who wants to grown their business to come and see if BNI would work for you. We are looking for property/casualty insurance sales people, chiropractors, day care providers, landscapers, event planners, hairdressers, and so many more seats to be filled! If you are interested, please feel free to reach out and I can explain more!

Gung Hay Fat Choi! Happy Chinese New Year: Year of the Wooden Horse

January 30, 2014 by MWC Staff

The Chinese year 4712 begins on Jan. 31, 2014.

A Charming New Year

Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal’s year would have some of that animal’s personality. Those born in horse years are cheerful, skillful with money, perceptive, witty, talented and good with their hands. Rembrandt, Harrison Ford, Aretha Franklin, Chopin, Sandra Day O’Connor, and President Theodore Roosevelt were born in the year of the horse.

At Chinese New Year celebrations people wear red clothes, decorate with poems on red paper, and give children “lucky money” in red envelopes. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck. The fireworks that shower the festivities are rooted in a similar ancient custom. Long ago, people in China lit bamboo stalks, believing that the crackling flames would frighten evil spirits.

The Legend of the Wooden Horse

In Chinese astrology, Horse year is considered a fortunate year that brings luck and good things. The Magical Horse has supernatural powers, is heroic, strong, and can even fly! A white celestial cloud Horse is sacred to the Chinese Goddess Kwan Yin. Her white Horse flies through the heavens, bringing peace and blessings. Horse is a hero in China because important battles were won due to the power and strength of the Horse.

The Horse is a symbol of traveling, as well a sign of speedy success because it can give individuals a ride to their destination. Horse is a social animal and it is connected to red; therefore this zodiac sign is treated as a Romantic Star in the Chinese horoscope. Chinese wouldn’t let horse to the farm work. Instead, all the farmland jobs go to the ox. This is because Chinese have higher expectation on horses. Horses can help human to win the battle. Sitting on the Horseback implies that the person is from noble or higher ranking family. So people born in the Horse year usually care about their dressing, outlook and speech.

The Chinese have five alchemical elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Horse is associated with fire; in fact horse is the strongest fire animal in the 12 zodiac signs. Wood helps fire burn and last longer. Therefore, businesses involving wood, fire and earth would generally do well this year.

Horses like to compete with others. They pursuit for their freedom, passion and leadership. Therefore, people will have busy schedule for their goal in the year of Horse. Horse hour of Chinese Horoscopes is from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M.

The Wood Horse year is a time of fast victories, unexpected adventure, and surprising romance. It is an excellent year for travel, and the more far away and off the beaten path the better. Energy is high and production is rewarded. Decisive action, not procrastination, brings victory. But you have to act fast in a Horse year. If you are not 100% secure about a decision, then don’t do it. Events move so quickly in a Horse year that you don’t want to gallop off in the wrong direction.

On a global scale, expect some world economies to become stronger while others experience economic chaos and collapse. Under Horse’s strong influence there is no middle ground. (The time for middle-ground diplomacy and planning was last year in Water Snake 2013.) Anticipate extremes in stock markets, fluctuation of prices, and general chaos in all things financial. There will be wars, battles, and skirmishes all over the world. Peace can be restored in Wood Sheep year 2015 but Wood Horse 2014 will be a wild ride as the world changes, and changes fast.
